With luck and the good fortune of ample resources, people weather difficult stretches with the support of friends and family and reliance on some combination of spiritual practice, healthy habits, good books, and fortitude. But sometimes a professional ear and the resources that a therapist provides can make all the difference between whether symptoms of anxiety or depression resolve quickly or become chronic and obliterate the joys in life; whether a crisis cripples a person or becomes an opportunity for new growth.Paradoxically, it is often in a relationship with the right therapist that one can best “hear” one’s own inner wisdom.

In my work as a psychotherapist, I place great value on developing a relationship of confidentiality and trust. This takes time and commitment on both sides. My training draws from many traditions: psychodynamic, humanistic-existential, behavioral, and family-systems, but I have been influenced as much by what my clients have taught me over the years as by what I’ve learned in books.

No one should choose a therapist on the basis of a website or a phone directory. The decision is too personal and too important. Nothing substitutes for meeting face-to-face, sharing your situation and concerns, and then following your intuition as to whether a particular therapist is a good fit for your needs.

If you are interested in talking about the possibility of psychotherapy with me, please call 937 767-7836 and let's talk. If you do not reach me directly, please leave a message with contact information and I will get back with you.
